Botanical enthusiast Felicity Jones and photographer Mark Smith have begun a collaboration exploring the history of the Wardian Case and it's wider social, cultural and environmental implications.
The project will address both the personal stories of European settlers seeking the reassurance of an English cottage garden in the New Zealand bush, along side the broader scientific and economic ambitions of colonising powers.
The first two works can be seen at the Allpress Studio, 8 Drake Street, Freemans Bay as part of the 100 Artists Exhibition. This runs from Thursday 2nd August until 14th September, every weekday between 7am and 3pm.
